Weekly Shinedown - Song Sixty Five - The Crow & The Butterfly - Pull Mix!

Hey There!

Back in March 2015, I wrote a blog post for the original version of The Crow & The Butterfly. By the time that I heard this version of the song, it was June 2015, and as well as finally finishing my IT coursework, I was right near the end of my exams, so I was listening to this song amongst many others whilst doing some last-minute studying.

The meaning of The Crow & The Butterfly have always been so deep and meaningful to me. I see that the lyrics are about a mother who has lost her child, and that she is grieving over this dearly. The crow represents death, whereas the butterfly represents life. So therefore, the meaning behind this song is that death is chasing life!

What I like about this version the most has got the be the introduction. It is like nothing that I have ever heard before, and I love it so much! Furthermore, the beat in the background of the song is so consistent, and represents such a present theme. Last of all, the chorus of this version portrays so much energy in such a simple way that is rather clever of Shinedown!

I do remember once attempting to play the original version of this song on my guitar, but alas, some of the chords were way too hard for me. Anyways, I hope that you've enjoyed reading this week's blog post, and that you'll stay tuned for more from me in the future!

I'll see you all next Thursday!

P.S. I'll leave the lyrics to The Crow & The Butterfly - Pull Mix below incase you're interested!

I painted your room at midnight So I'd know yesterday was over I put all your books on the top shelf Even the one with the four leaf clover Man I'm getting older I took all your pictures off the wall And I wrapped them in a newspaper blanket And I haven't slept in what seems like a century And now I can barely breathe Just like the crow chasing the butterfly Dandelions lost in the summer sky Cause when you and I were gettin' high as outer space I never thought you would slip away I guess I was just a little too late Your words still serenade me And your lullaby's, they won't let me sleep And I've never heard such a haunting melody Oh it's killing me You know I can barely breathe Just like the crow chasing the butterfly Dandelions lost in the summer sky Cause when you and I were gettin' high as outer space I never thought you would slip away I guess I was just a little too late Just like the crow chasing the butterfly Dandelions lost in the summer sky Cause when you and I were gettin' high as outer space I never thought you would slip away I guess I was just a little too late Just like the crow chasing the butterfly Dandelions lost in the summer sky Cause when you and I were gettin' high as outer space I never thought you would slip away I guess I was just a little too late I was just a little too late I was just a little too, little too late

Weekly Shinedown - Song Sixty Four - Save Me - Pull Mix!

Hey There!

Despite the fact that I would have often listened to Save Me - Pull Mix many times in IT whilst I was listening to Us And Them (Deluxe) I can barely remember taking much notice of this song until around June 2015. It was just before I was about the leave school after completing all of my exams, which meant that I would spoon be having an extended summer break to listen to Shinedown as much as I wanted to!

So around my last exams was the time when I discovered this song, I was really drawn to wanting to listen to it more after hearing what is now my favourite part of it. My favourite part is around one minute into the song, and it is just after the first verse of Save Me. It is hard to explain, but basically, the whole mood of the song completely changes, and it becomes more relaxed, and I honestly love this part so much!

After already writing posts about the original Save Me song, and the acoustic version, the song is always going to be a very important song to me, especially with it being one of the very first songs that I ever heard by Shinedown back in 2014.

As I remember, apart from a couple of tricky Bm's in this song, I am able to play the majority of this song, which is brilliant and I would love to learn how to play it later in the future!

Most importantly, yesterday on Wednesday 23rd March 2016, it was my Uncle Peter's 54th Birthday, which also marks the anniversary of back in 2014, when he first introduced Shinedown to me and my two friends Chez and Nathan when we were driving in his car. For the past two years, I have really been into Shinedown, and it has just been such an excellent journey that I have been on. I would like to thank all of you who have been apart of this wonderful experience, and have supported me by reading all of my previous blog posts!

I'll see you all next Thursday!

P.S. I'll leave the lyrics to Save Me - Pull Mix below incase you're interested!

Well, I got a candle
And I've got a spoon
I live in a hallway
With no doors and no rooms

And under a windowsill
They all were found
A touch of concrete within the doorway
Without a sound

Someone save me, if you will
And take away all these pills
And please, just save me if you can
From the blasphemy in my wasteland

How did I get here
And what went wrong?
Couldn't handle forgiveness
Now, Im far beyond gone

And I can hardly remember
The look of my own eyes
How can I love this a life so dishonest?
It made me compromise

Someone save me, if you will
And take away all these pills
And please, just save me if you can
From the blasphemy in my wasteland

Jump in the water
Jump in with me
Jump on the alter

Lay down with me
The hardest question
To answer is why, why

Someone save me, if you will
And take away all these pills
And please, just save me if you can
From the blasphemy in my wasteland

Someone save me
Someone save me
Somebody save me
Somebody save me
Please, dont erase me

Weekly Shinedown - Song Sixty Three - Breaking Inside - Feat. Lzzy Hale Of Halestorm!

Hey There!

So this next Shinedown song that I discovered was probably still whilst I was doing my IT coursework, because I do remember listening to it at the end of The Sound Of Madness album, and it was usually as I was packing away to finally go home at the end of a very long day! However, I don't think that it was until right at the end of May 2015 that I really paid attention to this song.

I had just downloaded an app onto my phone called Musify to listen to music whilst I was going away for a week in Wales, and I temporarily had some Shinedown songs on there, and one of them that I added was Breaking Inside with Lzzy Hale. Usually when I hear this song, it always reminds me of back in Wales, when I used to go running every evening in the sun around the countryside and beach area, and it was just a lovely experience!

When I first heard the original Breaking Inside, it was in September 2014, right at the beginning of my Shinedown experience, and I also posted about it back in April 2015. Although the songs are similar, there are also o many differences between the two versions. The first thing that I have to pick out if the introductions. The intro to this one is amazing, because I really do love the guitar strums at the beginning, which are played rather acoustically, and are so consistent!

Another part of the song that I absolutely adore is at the beginning of the second verse, where Lzzy Hale suddenly comes in with such amazingly powerful vocals. And then towards the end of the song, the duet between Brent Smith and Lzzy Hale is absolutely amazing, and I just love listening to it!

I remember a while back, when my Uncle Peter was telling me of the time that he went to see Shinedown in Manchester, that Alter Bridge and Halestorm were also there, and he said that they were both absolutely tremendous, and that was when I had first heard of Halestorm, and decided to look into their works. I think that this was around October 2014, not long after I had had my new phone, because there is a photo of them all that I have saved at the beginning of my gallery.

If I remember rightly, the chords to this song are lovely, and don't seem difficult to play, and with vocals like Lzzy Hale's, it would be an amazing song to learn to play and sing along to! A massive thank you to all of you who have been keeping up with all of my posts recently, it really means a lot!

I'll see you all next Thursday!

P.S. I'll leave the lyrics to Breaking Inside - Feat. Lzzy Hale Of Halestorm below incase you're interested!

I caught a chill
And it's still frozen on my skin
I think about why I'm alone
By myself, no one else to explain
How far do I go?
No one knows
If the end is so much better
Why don't we just live forever?
Don't tell me I'm the last one in line
Don't tell me I'm too late this time

I don't wanna live
To waste another day
Underneath the shade
Of the mistakes I've made
'Cause I feel like I'm breaking inside
I don't wanna fall
And say I lost it all
'Cause maybe there's a part of me
That hit the wall
Leaving pieces of me behind
And I feel like I'm breaking inside

Out here, nothing's clear
Except the moment I decided
To move on and I ignited
Disappear, into the fear
You know there ain't no coming back
When you're still carrying the past
You can't erase, separate
Cigarette in my hand
Hope you all understand

I won't be the last one in line
I finally figured out what's mine

I don't wanna live
To waste another day
Underneath the shade
Of the mistakes I've made
'Cause I feel like I'm breaking inside
I don't wanna fall
And say I lost it all
'Cause maybe there's a part of me
That hit the wall
Leaving pieces of me behind
And I feel like I'm breaking inside

I won't be the last one in line
I finally figured out what's mine

I don't wanna live
To waste another day
Underneath the shade
Of the mistakes I've made
'Cause I feel like I'm breaking inside
I don't wanna fall
And say I lost it all
'Cause maybe there's a part of me
That hit the wall
Leaving pieces of me behind (pieces of me behind)
And I feel like I'm breaking inside (pieces of me behind)
And I feel like I'm breaking inside
And I feel like I'm breaking
And I feel like I'm breaking inside

Weekly Shinedown - Song Sixty Two - Carried Away - Demo!

Hey There!

So carrying on from already hearing three of Shinedown's demo songs from Us And Them Deluxe, Carried Away - Demo was the last one that I listened to. It was towards the end of the weekend after my crazy exam week, and I was still doing more revision for all of the exams that I had not yet sat. Therefore, I obviously wanted to listen to Carried Away in more detail, after having listened to it many times during my revision sessions!

From looking behind the meaning of Carried Away, it seems that someone has been broken, and feel really down, like there is nothing for them. So the writer behind the song is telling them that it really isn't their fault, and that they shouldn't blame themselves. Then further on, they are then warning them that they always take things too far, and should try not to carry on doing this on the future.

The introduction of Carried Away, where there is a constant strum on the guitar, always reminds me of part of a clip from the TV show called The Apprentice. I used to be obsessed with that show, and the background music during the most tense scenes was a similar strumming of the guitar to this one. It is such an intense introduction, but a brilliant one in that matter!

It goes without saying that the bridge to this song is my favourite part by far. There is just so much power and emphasis behind it, and it always makes me feel so more more alive inside. Especially since there is such a build up to the incredible chorus following!

Surprisingly, for once, I have been successful in finding some chords for an obscure Shinedown song, and best of all, they seem pretty do-able! The chords mainly consist of Em and Am, which are officially my favourite two chords ever!

Thank you very much to you all who have read my blog post for this week, and I do hope that you've enjoyed what you've read so far!

I'll see you all next Thursday!

P.S. I'll leave the lyrics to Carried Away - Demo below incase you're interested!

Something's wrong with you I see
Your eyes have turned a shade of empty
In my arms you pushed aside
Wondered if you'd ever be
Alright again and try to fix
Whats goin on inside of you

There's no reason to be afraid
You can't blame yourself
For the world's mistakes
Now it's time to let it go

Look out, look in and realise
You always get so carried away
There's times and things you can never change
Don't get so carried away

Even now you hide behind
Those imitations in your mind
Through every act
From the middle to the end
You have played the part as your only friend
You steal the rush
From the hands of time
And they'll never to catch up with you

There's no reason to be afraid
You can't blame youself
For the world's mistakes
Now it's time to let it go

Look out, look in and realise
You always get so carried away
There's times and things you can never change
Don't get so carried away

You need to find out whats for real
And know how I wish you would understand
And listen

Look out, look in and realise
You always get so carried away
Look out, look in and realise
You always get so carried away
There's times and things you can never change
Don't get so carried away
Look out, look in and realise
You always get so carried away
There's time and things you can never change
Don't get so carried away

Weekly Shinedown - Song Sixty One - Persistence - Demo!

Hey There!

After I had my very crazy exam week back in May 2015, I decided to have the weekend off to enjoy having some free time. During my weekend, as week as beginning to watch the TV show Friends, I also decided to listen to Us And Them (Deluxe) in a lot more detail, and Persistence - Demo was the next song that caught my ear.

Initially listening to this song, the introduction sort of reminded me of What A Shame, which was a song that I already had a strong passion for, so to listen to a song very similar to that one was wonderful for me.

The introduction to Persistence, as well as the first verse, is what I love so much about the song. Especially since the chords are so chilled back, and it is just so relaxing to listen to.

The meaning of Persistence is actually quite meaningful. It is about somebody who sticks out from the crowd, and is always going against the flow. Therefore, they are quite persistent, because they are always continuing against the opposing forces, which really links to the quote that I once heard of "persistence beats resistance"!

I am honestly quite gutted that this song never made the final cut for the official album, but at least I am able to listen to this masterpiece of a demo version! However, it does mean that the online chords to Persistence have never existed, but anyone who has been successful in playing this song is amazing!

Thank you to all of you who have kept with me through all of these Shinedown blog posts, it really means a lot to me!

I'll see you all next Thursday!

P.S. I'll leave the lyrics to Persistence - Demo below incase you're interested!

Settle down
Stop trying so hard
Push back what you think is impossible
Your only undecided because you choose to be

Settle down
Don’t take it personal
Rearrange how you see things
You’re only undecided because you were told to be
(Because you were told to be)

Go ahead and find yourself
Undeniably different
Go ahead and clear the way
Your only thought is persistence
(Your only thought is persistence)

Take your time
Stop thinking so much
Always searchin for answers
Your only uninspired because you chose to be

Take your time
Don’t try and force it out
Your opinions can sometimes be self doubt
Your only uninspired because of what you’ve seen
(Because of what you’ve seen)

Go ahead and find yourself
Undeniably different
Go ahead and clear the way
Your only thought is persistence

Go ahead and find yourself
Undeniably different
Go ahead and clear the way
Your only thought is persistence
(Your only thought is persistence)

And maybe its not your fault at all
Anyone can make mistakes
But can all wrongs be erased
(Your only thought is persistence)

Go ahead and find yourself
Undeniably different
Go ahead and clear the way
Your only thought is persistence
(Your only thought is persistence)
(Your only thought is persistence)
