Weekly Shinedown - Song Seven - Simple Man - Rock Version!

Hey There!

If you look back through my earlier blog posts, you can see that around June or July of 2014 was when I first came across Simple Man Acoustic by Shinedown.

Unfortunately, during the month of August, I barely listened to any songs by Shinedown because I was on holiday for most of the month. However, not long after I got home, I decided that I would make a whole playlist of my favourite Shinedown songs on Saturday 30th August 2014. The Shinedown songs that I have already posted about were the first songs to be added into this playlist. Then on Sunday 31st August 2014, I decided that it was finally time to listen to the non-acousic versions of the Shinedown songs that I love.

The first one that I listened to was of course the rock version of Simple Man. What I liked about this song was that the introduction was quite similar to the acoustic version, but during the song, the rock guitars that are used really add something to the song!

I have heard my Uncle Peter play Simple Man plenty of times on his guitar, so it is a really familiar song to me. I also know that it is one of his favourite songs that Shinedown have sang, because of it being originally sang by Lynyrd Skynyrd.

Since I wrote my blog post about Simple Man Acoustic, I have been more adventurous on my guitar, and I finally attempted to play Simple Man on my guitar. I would't say that it was a difficult song to play, because the only chords used are C, G and Am. But I find it quite hard to sing in time with my strumming because of it being a tricky rhythm to master.

So here is how my Shinedown journey developed even further! I would love it if you could comment below some of your favourite Shinedown songs, and why you love Shinedown so much!

I'll see you all next Thursday!

P.S. I'll leave the lyrics to Simple Man - Rock Version below incase you're interested!

Well mama told me, when I was young
Said sit beside me, my only son
And listen closely to what I say
And if you do this, it'll help you some sunny day

Ahhh
Yeah it will

Or take your time don't live to fast
Troubles will come and they will pass
You'll find a woman and you'll find love
And don't forget that there's is a someone up above

Be a simple kind of man
Be a something you love and understand
Baby be a simple kind of man
Oh won't you do this for me son if you can
(if you can)

Forget your lust for the rich man's gold
All that you need now is in your soul
And you can do this(oh baby)if you try
All that I want from you my son is to be satisfied

And be a simple kind of man
Be a something that you love and understand
Baby be a simple kind of man
Oh won't you do this for me son if you can
(if you can)

Oh don't you worry
You'll find yourself
Follow your heart
And nothing else
And you can do this(oh baby)if you try
All that I want from you my son is to be satisfied

And be a simple kind of man
Oh won't you do this for me son if you can
So baby be a simple be a simple man
Oh won't you do this for me son if you can
