Weekly Shinedown - Song Sixty Nine - If You Only Knew - Live Acoustic From Kansas City!

Hey There!

So I'm still continuing my Shinedown journey around Summer 2015, and I still went on many road trips with my Uncle Peter and some of my friends. My original post for If You Only Knew was written back in July 2015, and it just happens to be an absolute favourite of mine!

The reason why I seem to love Shinedown acoustic songs so much is because they have been stripped down to the basics of a song, and this is where the talent of each of the band members is really discovered! Acoustic songs are also a lot easier to sing along to, because I just think that the key that they are written in is perfect! I am honestly gutted that Shinedown have never done any acoustic tours in the UK, because I would give almost anything to be able to go to an acoustic tour, and I wish so much that I was into Shinedown back in 2011 when they were in Kansas City.

For once, it isn't a Shinedown introduction that happens to be my favourite part. I have got to say that in this case, although I still love the intro, that the chorus just wins me over. The vocals and the harmonies are honestly amazing, and I always want to sing along to this part. I just think that the relaxed vocals really help the song to be so powerful, and if I was ever at a Shinedown concert, I would sing my absolute heart out!

If You Only Knew has been the ultimate song that has got me through some difficult times regarding insomnia and nightmare issues, so I would personally like to thank Shinedown for the production of this amazing song!

As I rightly remember, the chords to If You Only Knew are really manageable, and I used to love playing this song on my guitar. However, singing it has got to be one of the most powerful things ever because the song means so much to me that I am able to pour my heart out into one song!

I'll see you all next Thursday!

If you only knew
I'm hanging by a thread
The web I spin for you
If you only knew
I'd sacrifice my beating
Heart before I'd lose you
I still hold onto the letters
You returned
I swear I've lived and learned

It's 4:03 and I can't sleep
Without you next to me I
Toss and turn like the sea
If I drown tonight, bring me
Back to life
Breathe your breath in me
The only thing that I still believe
In is you, if you only knew

If you only knew
How many times I counted
All the words that went wrong
If you only knew
How I refuse to let you go,
Even when you're gone
I don't regret any days I
Spent, nights we shared,
Or letters that I sent

It's 4:03 and I can't sleep
Without you next to me I
Toss and turn like the sea
If I drown tonight, bring me
Back to life
Breathe your breath in me
The only thing that I still believe
In is you, if you only knew
If you only knew

If you only knew
I still hold onto the letters
You returned
You help me live and learn

It's 4:03 and I can't sleep
Without you next to me I
Toss and turn like the sea
If I drown tonight, bring me
Back to life
Breathe your breath in me
The only thing that I still believe
In is you, believe in is you
Because I still believe in you
Oh, if you only knew
If you only knew

Weekly Shinedown - Song Sixty Eight - Shed Some Light - Live Acoustic From Kansas City!

Hey There!

Back in November, I wrote one of my favourite blog posts to date, which was the original version of Shed Some Light. It has always been such a meaningful song to me, especially since it really links to the testimony of my cousin Joel back in the past, but you would have to read by original post for the full story.

Back in Summer 2015, when my Uncle Peter would take me and my friends out for road trips to various places, he thought that it would be a brilliant idea to let us listen to Shinedown's live album called Somewhere In The Stratosphere, and of course he was right! Later when I got home, I decided to listen to this album for myself, and when I got to Shed Some Light Acoustic, I honestly fell in love with the song right from the beginning!

The introduction is honestly the most wonderful that I have ever heard. The soft piano introduction just gives you so much time to reflect, and I don't think that words can describe my love for this introduction. The piano then consistently plays at the beginning of the song, with a light guitar trimming in the background, and altogether, it fits perfectly!

I remember watching the full concert DVD of Shinedown in Kansas City, and Brent Smith was telling the audience that it was his father's favourite song, and it always reminded him of his grandfather. And all in all, the meaning behind the song touches me!

Over the past few days, I re-discovered this song whilst flicking through some old Shinedown songs, and it brought back so many lovely amazing memories that I haven't been able to stop listening to this song recently.

Last of all, I am completely gutted that I haven't been able to find the piano sheet music to this amazing masterpiece because I would give anything to be able to learn to play it on piano! If anyone can find a source online, it would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you very much for the support that I have been given recently, and I hope that you continue to read further posts from me in the future!

I'll see you all next Thursday!

P.S. I'll leave the lyrics to Shed Some Light Live Acoustic From Kansas City below incase you're interested!

I'm falling apart again
And I can't find a way to make amends
And I'm looking in both directions
But it's make believe, it's all pretend

So...
Shed some light on me
And hold me up in disbelief
And shed some light on me
And tell me something that I'll believe in

It's innocence within the maze
But I have chosen the wrong way
I'm still getting over who I was
There's no sense of trust, there's no definition of love

So...
Shed some light on me
And hold me up in disbelief
And shed some light on me
And tell me something that I'll believe in

I know now, it's not who you are
It's who you know
And I see clearly now, which way to go
I remember the way I fell from above
And I recall the way I was

So...
Shed some light on me
And hold me up in disbelief
And shed some light on me
And tell me something that I'll believe in
Shed some light on me
And hold me up in disbelief
And shed some light on me
And tell me something that I'll believe
Tell me something that I'll...
Tell me something that I'll believe
Tell me something that I'll believe
Something I'll believe

Weekly Shinedown - Song Sixty Seven - Burning Bright - Sanford Mix!

Hey There!

The last time that I posted about Burning Bright was back in April 2015, and now I am here to do the Sanford Mix! So it must have been mid-June 2015 when I heard this song properly, and by this point, you would be pleased to know, that all of my exams had finished, and that I had left school for good, so it was the start of a very long summer for me. Best of all, this means that I was able to listen to as much Shinedown when I wanted!

Brent Smith's meaning behind this song is honestly wonderful. Basically, he said that to is about during hard times, where you have to find your inner strength to overcome your fears, because in the darkest hour, you are the only one that can find the light! Such a strong meaning; I honestly couldn't have put it better myself!

Throughout the entirety of this song, there is such a relaxing vibe, and it really chills me out. My favourite part is definitely the introduction, because especially where the drums and guitars really kick in, the sensation becomes so powerful, and it appears so strong!

It's been many months since I looked at the chords for this song for the first time, and still, I am unable to play than Bm chord! But anyway, I hope that you've enjoyed reading this week's blog post, and that you'll come back for more from me in the future!

I'll see you all next Thursday!

P.S. I'll leave the lyrics to Burning Bright - Sanford Mix below incase you're interested!

I feel like there is no need for conversation
Some questions are better left without a reason
And I would rather reveal myself than my situation
Now and then I consider my hesitation

The more the light shines through me
I pretend to close my eyes
The more the dark consumes me
I pretend I'm burning, burning bright

I wonder if the things I did were just to be different
To spare myself of the constant shame of my existence
And I would surely redeem myself in my desperation
Here and now, I'll express my situation

The more the light shines through me
I pretend to close my eyes
The more the dark consumes me
I pretend I'm burning bright

The more the light shines through me
I pretend to close my eyes
The more the dark consumes me
I pretend I'm burning

There's nothing ever wrong but nothing's ever right
Such a cruel contradiction, I know I crossed the line
It's not easy to define, I'm born to indecision
There's always something new some path I'm supposed
To choose with no particular rhyme or reason

The more the light shines through me
I pretend to close my eyes
The more the dark consumes me
I pretend I'm burning bright

The more the light shines through me
I pretend to close my eyes
The more the dark consumes me
I pretend I'm burning

I feel like there is no need for conversation

Weekly Shinedown - Song Sixty Six - I Dare You - Clear Channel Stripped!

Hey There!

So around April and May 2015, I had previously written blog posts for both the original version and the acoustic version of I Dare You. However, it wasn't until June 2015 when I got around to listening to the clear channel stripped version of the song. I had already heard the clear channel stripped version of One, and I wrote a post about it back in November 2015, and all in all, it was a brilliant song.

The meaning behind I Dare You is to do with someone who is asking God to test them, to prove how faithful they are to him, and to stand up to the devil. Funnily enough, earlier tonight, my Uncle Peter was showing me and some of my friends a movie clip where Jesus was being tempted by the devil in the desert, and it just reminded me of this song.

My favourite part of this song is at the end of the introduction, where the drum suddenly kicks in just before the first verse. I also think that the vocals are amazing throughout the song, and as well that it reminds me of the theme of Shinedown's acoustic songs in general, especially with the acoustic guitar playing wonderfully in the background. Even listening to this version of the song still reminds me of back in October 2014 when I was in Scotland, just when I had discovered the original version. The memories are so nostalgic to me, which rarely ever happens usually!

Last of all, I am still learning the chords to the original version of I Dare You, so in time, I should soon be a master at them! Thanks to all of you who have read this week's blog post, and hopefully, you'll hear more from me in the future!

I'll see you all next Thursday!

P.S. I'll leave the lyrics to I Dare You - Clear Channel Stripped below incase you're interested!

Hello, let me introduce you to
The characters in the show
One says yes, one says no
Decide - which voice in your head you can keep alive

Even in madness, I know you still believe
Paint me your canvas so I become
What you could never be

I dare you to tell me to walk through the fire
Brand my soul and call me a liar
I dare you to tell me to walk through the fire
I dare you to tell me
I dare you to

Hello, are you still chasing
The memories in shadows
Some stay young, some grow old
Come alive, there are thoughts unclear
You can never hide

Even in madness, I know you still believe
Paint me your canvas so I become
What you could never be

I dare you to tell me to walk through the fire
Brand my soul and call me a liar
I dare you to tell me to walk through the fire
I dare you to tell me
I dare you to

Hello
Hello...
I dare you to tell me to walk through the fire
Brand my soul and call me a liar
I dare you to tell me to walk through the fire
I dare you to tell me
I dare you to
Hello...
Hello...
I dare you to tell me
I dare you to
I dare you to tell me
I dare you to
