Weekly Shinedown - Song Sixty - Fake - Demo!

Hey There!

I have already written a blog post back in November 2015 about the song Fake that Shinedown released on their second album, Us And Them. However, this week, I am going to look at the demo version that was released onto their deluxe album.

So as you already know, I had really gotten into the song Atmosphere - Demo the day before I had four exams in school. When I got back from school on Tuesday 12th May 2015, I was absolutely shattered, and I had a day off from exams, so I decided to listen to  some more Shinedown songs at home. Naturally, I began by listening to Atmosphere - Demo many times because of having that song in my head literally all day. I came to know of Fake - Demo because it was always on straight after Atmosphere, and it was also the very last song on the album, so it was a nice way to end the album.

I'm not entirely sure what makes this song really good, but the simplicity of the music in the background may have something to do with it. This is mainly because it then becomes such an easy song to sing along to whilst it is playing.

My favourite part of the song is definitely at the end, when we can hear the "but I'm bleeding for you" extension at the end. I just think that it is so unique, and it's what makes the song so special!

I do recall that the chords to this song were way too complicated for me, so I'll have to give that a miss. But it is a great song all in all. I do hope that you've all enjoyed reading this week's post, and make sure that you come here next week for more posts from me!

I'll see you all next Thursday!

P.S. I'll leave the lyrics to Fake - Demo incase you're interested!

This place has begun to cover me
I recall the light, but the dark smothers me
I prefer the feelings I know right now
I don't worry about feeling very proud

'Cause you know how it feels to be misunderstood
To reach for the sky
I thought you never would
You don't know how it feels to be misunderstood
To reach for the sky
I thought you never would

But I'm bleeding, and my hands are bruised
From the grip that I once had on you
And I'm open for a new way
'Cause there's not much more that I can fake

It's almost seeing your soul for the first time
And watching the mirror show you life in rewind
Capture the ridicule of everyone
I'm tired of trying and they wonder why I'm gone

'Cause you don't know how it feels to be misunderstood
To reach for the sky
I though you never would
You don't know how it feels to be misunderstood
To reach for the sky
I thought you never would

But I'm bleeding, and my hands are bruised
From the grip that I once had on you
And I'm open for a new way
'Cause there's not much more that I can fake

Never ending, I'm just beginning, never alone
Never ending, I'm just pretending, we are cool
And now it's easier to let go of how I feel
And now it's better since the emotion is real

'Cause you know how it feels to be misunderstood
To reach for the sky
I thought you never would
You don't know how it feels to be misunderstood
To reach for the sky
I thought you never would

Yeah

But I'm bleeding, and my hands are bruised
From the grip that I once had on you
And I'm open for a new way
'Cause there's not much more that I can fake

But I'm bleeding, and my hands are bruised
From the grip that I once had on you
And I'm open for a new way
'Cause there's not much more that I can fake

Yeah

But I'm bleeding for you
But I'm down on my knees
But I am filled up with you
But I'm bleeding for you
But I'm don on my knees
But I am filled up for you
But I'm bleeding for you

Weekly Shinedown - Song Fifty Nine - Atmosphere - Demo!

Hey There!

So back in November 2015, I made a blog post already on Atmosphere by Shinedown that was released onto their album Us And Them in 2005. However, they later released a digital deluxe version that contained demo versions of their songs, which were later altered into the ones we all know today!

Despite all of the demo versions being at the end of Shinedown's album on Spotify, the original version that I listened to in IT didn't have all of the deluxe tracks on. However, on Monday 11th May 2015, I was listening to the full album on Spotify whilst revising for my GCSEs, because I had four exams the next day, two in French and two in Biology. The next day, all I had in my head constantly was Atmosphere - Demo, and in the Biology exam, when I was feeling so ill, and I was almost losing the will to live, this song just kept repeating constantly in my head. At the end of the day, when I got home, I decided to re-listen to this song, and somehow came up with my own personal dance to this song, which mainly consists of my swiping my shoulders - most embarrassing!

I'm not entirely sure why I love this version so much. Obviously, it is less rock than the actual version of the song, and I can understand that it wasn't on the original album because it didn't really fit in with the whole theme of the song, but there is just something about it that draws me to it. It's probably the really cool beat, and how it always makes me want to dance and mime along with the song, but I just can't get enough of it!

In comparison, I actually really like the lyrics to the demo version, especially the first verse of the song, because "say a prayer for me" really fits in with my interpretation of this song that I gave in November 2015. Unfortunately, the song lyrics weren't available on my usual website, so I had to rely on forums, and listening to the song many times myself for the lyrics. If you feel that any of the lines are wrong, please don't hesitate to tell me!

All in all, I really do hope that you've enjoyed reading this week's blog post, and that you'll stay tuned in the future for more posts for me throughout my Shinedown journey!

I'll see you all next Thursday!

P.S. I'll leave the lyrics to Atmosphere - Demo incase you're interested!

Say a prayer for me
Until later on
Stay awake for me
Unless I'm too far gone

It makes no difference to me
The haze is gone, now I can see

Looking down on the atmosphere
Take your number, wait in line
Not so frail from the exposure
Taking pictures with my mind

Staying here in the sky high
Looking back on my life
Knowing now at least I tried
Finding closure before I die

It makes no difference to me
The haze is gone, now I can see

Looking down on the atmosphere
Take your number, wait in line
Not so frail from the exposure
Taking pictures with my mind

You must know I found my road
And you must know I'm going home
Don't look back, dreams of rowe
I must do this on my own

Looking down on the atmosphere
Take your number, wait in line
Not so frail from the exposure
Taking pictures with my mind

Looking down on the atmosphere
Take your number, wait in line
Not so frail from the exposure
Taking pictures with my mind

Taking pictures with my mind

Weekly Shinedown - Song Fifty Eight - Lacerated!

Hey There!

It was definitely towards the middle of May 2015 when I first became interested in Lacerated. I think that the main reason as to why I was so hooked to this song was because of the rock guitar in the introduction to the song. I know all too well that I'm always one to become obsessed with introductions, but of course, with Shinedown, they never fail to impress me!

Honestly, I just can't get over the amazingness of the beginning of this song, especially the one guitar strum that is continuous at the beginning of the song, I just love it so much! I'm also a massive fan of the bridge to this song, because it just seems to knit it all together, and make it flow really really well.

The meaning of Lacerated seems to go along the lines of in a relationship, the girl has basically used the guy's weaknesses against him, and all in all, it took a turn for the worst!

Sadly, the chords don't even exist for Lacerated, which is a real shame, especially because this one would be perfect to play on the guitar, but never mind. Despite this, I do hope that you've enjoyed reading this week's post, and that you'll bear with me because uploading has been difficult recently due to the texts all being messed up. Thank you anyways!

I'll see you all next Thursday!

P.S. I'll leave the lyrics to Lacerated below incase you're interested!

Turn on the lights, paint me a tapestry
Go start a fire, get close to the gasoline
I followed you to the deep end
I was helpless but still you pulled me in

Now I'm caught in the tide
Lost in the eyes of envy
For whom it concerns
Some never learn

She lacerated me, exposing me piece by piece
She saw a weakness in me, and used it against me
She lacerated me

Turn out the lights, make me a porcelain doll
Whisper your secrets, can't get to the truth at all
I reached out again and again
I could never believe you'd do me in

Now I'm caught in the tide
Lost in the eyes of envy
For whom it concerns
Some never learn

She lacerated me, exposing me piece by piece
She saw a weakness in me, and used it against me
She lacerated me, and now I have nowhere to go
She lacerated me

She lacerated me, and now I have nowhere to go
She lacerated me, release me from all I see
She lacerated me
She lacerated me

Weekly Shinedown - Song Fifty Seven - Stranger Inside!

Hey There!

Since May 2015, I have known Stranger Inside fairly well. It is a song by Shinedown that I don't listen to that often, but when I do, it always makes me want to listen to it several times in a row. The song barely reminds me of IT, which must mean that by the time I had discovered Stranger Inside on it's own, I had finally completed my IT coursework, and it had all been submitted into the exam board to be marked.

In all honesty, I just love the chorus of Stranger Inside so much. I'm not entirely sure why, but there is just something about it in total. As well, I am also a massive fan of the pre-chorus, because at this point, the guitars are at full swing, and the complexity is incredible!

From listening to these song lyrics many times, the meaning has become apparent that it is about a person who has known someone for a very long time. Yet so much was hidden from them over this period of time, so when they eventually find out, they feel that they really don't know this person anymore, and it disappoints them bitterly!

Once again, I've been completely unsuccessful in finding any sort of guitar chords for Stranger Inside, however, there have been some really cool guitar tutorials and covers of this song uploaded onto YouTube.

I would just like to say thank you to all of you who have taken the time to read all of my blog posted recently, and I hope that you enjoy more from me in the future!

I'll see you all next Thursday!

P.S. I'll leave the lyrics to Stranger Inside below incase you're interested!

This day could be the worst one yet
I just won't relax I can't catch my breath
Because I'm sick and tired of you'll be fine
Well how do you know, can you read minds?

So take it while you can, so you can meet demands
My insanity is what you thrive on
So rip it from my soul, so everyone will know in the end
We were never friends

Have you ever felt lost inside? So unloved within that you almost die?
Have you ever stepped out of the light and realised there's a stranger inside?

Don't push your ignorance on me
I'm not unrehearsed to your jealousy
And I know you don't think I see the signs
Well how do you know, do I look blind?

So take it while you can, so you can meet demands
My breakdown in what you thrive on
So rip it from my soul, so everyone will know in the end
I'm the break, you're the bend

Have you ever felt lost inside? So unloved within that you almost die?
Have you ever stepped out of the light and realised there's a stranger inside?

Stranger inside
Have you ever felt lost inside? So unloved within that you almost die?
Have you ever stepped out of the light and realised there's a stranger inside?

Have you ever felt lost inside?
Have you ever stepped out of the light and realized there's a stranger inside?
