Weekly Shinedown - Song Fifty Six - All I Ever Wanted!

Hey There!

For some reason, listening to All I Ever Wanted doesn't bring so many memories of doing my IT coursework as most other Shinedown songs do, so I'd edge a guess that it was around the beginning of May 2015 when I decided to dig deeper into this song rather than just listening to it on a loop with the rest of the songs from Us And Them.

By far, my favourite part of All I Ever Wanted has got to be the chorus. As soon as it baste through my headphones, it honestly gives me such amazing vibes, and in general, the tune to the song is amazing. I also really like the acoustic guitar that is in the introduction, and also subtly plays during the verses of the song.

Interpretations of the song mainly suggest that All I Ever Wanted is about a person who messed up their life at some point in their life, and now that they are reflecting on their life, they finally realised just what they really wanted deep down. Maybe a little more brutal than Shed Some Light, but still an absolute masterpiece!

I've not been too lucky recently concerning guitar chords for Shinedown songs, although from all of the amazing songs that I learned to play over a year ago, it kind of makes up for it. I hope that you've enjoyed reading my posts recently, and that you'll stay tuned for more from me in the future!

I'll see you all next Thursday!

P.S. I;ll leave the lyrics to All I Ever Wanted below incase you're interested!

I lie here alone and wonder why
That I come alive, just before I have to hide.

Because I believe I'm losing my nerve
But could I ever do better than this

Because all I ever wanted was a place to call my home
To shelter me when I am there and to miss me when I'm gone
All I ever wanted was a place to call my own
Where stars will dance and sun still shines and the storms feel free to roam

I listen if only for a while
But I can't decide if I'm aware that I'm on trial

Because I believe I'm losing my nerve
But could I ever do better than this

Because all I ever wanted was a place to call my home
To shelter me when I am there and to miss me when I'm gone
All I ever wanted was a place to call my own
Where stars will dance and sun still shines and the storms feel free to roam

If there's a way to a remedy then lead me straight to it
If there's a path or a door I missed , then show me now, show me this

Because all I ever wanted was a place to call my home
To shelter me when I am there and to miss me when I'm gone
All I ever wanted was a place to call my own
Where stars will dance and sun still shines and the storms feel free to roam

Feel free when I am gone

Weekly Shinedown - Song Fifty Five - In Memory!

Hey There!

By the time that I discovered In Memory, it was leaning towards the end of my IT project, so it was around the end of April 2015, and deadlines were looming in. I also remember that because my colder cousin's wedding has been not long before this time, I was also really into the song Sarah by Thin Lizzy, and I kept alternating between this song, and Shinedown's first album, Us And Them.

Each Shinedown album seems to remind me of a different sector in IT. For example, The Sound Of Madness always reminds me of the adventure park website that I had to create, whereas Us And Them reminds me of the virtual characters that I had to create.

The best past of In Memory is definitely the entire first verse, because it is so hyped up, and there is so much passion during this verse. I must say that "and I'm not asking for value nor the pain" has got to be my favourite line in the whole song because it just seems to cool, especially with the band's vocals being exceptionally strong during this line!

In Memory apreas to be about someone who has their own dreams that they are aspiring to aim for, however, they kept being dragged down by others, so these people had to just just be ditched in the end. Although their meanings are completely different, I feel that In Memory also has quite a strong link to a song called In Loving Memory by a band similar to Shinedown called Alter Bridge. I remember my Uncle Peter also getting me into Alter Bridge, and I have got to say that In Loving Memory is such an emotional song.

As amazing as In Memory is, especially with the guitar solos, there still aren't any chords for this masterpiece anywhere online. Regardless, I do hope that you've enjoyed reading my blog posts so far this year, and I hope you continue to read them in the future!

I'll see you all next Thursday!

P.S. I'll leave the lyrics to In Memory below incase you're interested!

Some of the ugliest things took the longest time to make
And some of the easiest habits are the hardest one's to break
And I'm not asking for value nor the pain but I am asking
For a way out of this lie

Because I can't wait for you to catch up with me
And I can't live in the past and drown myself in memories

Welcome to nowhere and finding out where it is
And fixing your problems and starting over agin
Your feeding your ego with what you can see outside
And your killing yourself for not speaking your mind

Because I can't wait for you to catch up with me
And I can't live in the past and drown myself in memories

In memory

I wonder why you make believe you live your life straight through me
I cannot understand why you question me and then you lie
I will not justify your way's I cannot show you an escape
I do not know you any more, I never knew you anyway

Because I can't wait for you to catch up with me
And I can't live in the past and drown myself in memories

Because I can't wait
And I can't live in the past and drown myself in memories
In memory
In memory

Weekly Shinedown - Song Fifty Four - Better Version!

Hey There!

By the time I listened to Better Version, it was April 2015, and by this point, I had almost finished with my IT coursework, plus, I also knew almost all of Shinedown's songs at this point really well!

My favourite part of a Better Version has got to be the introduction, but surprisingly, it is mainly because of the drum beat performed by the amazing Barry Kerch. It really grabs my attention, and stands out so well. The drum beat is also really noticeable in the verses of the song, and it just makes it flow so well! Nice one Shinedown!

From thinking about the meaning behind Better Version, it seems fairly clear that it is about someone who wants to be seen exactly for exactly who they are, in their completely faultless, but genuine form. The person in the song is obviously distressed by the fact that someone wants them to only show their perfect mask, which is pnt a true representation if who they exactly are!

The chords to Better Version are nowhere to be seen on the internet, however, there are quite a few guitar tutorials for this song that actually look rather promising!

I would like to say a massive thank you to everyone who has taken the time to read some of my blog posts. A weird fact of the day is that around one year today, I came up with the idea that I should write about my cousin Joel, and the story of how he became a Christian, which I decided to refer to as Shed Some Light, after such an amazing Shinedown song!

I'll see you all next Thursday!

P.S. I'll leave the lyrics to Better Version below incase you're interested!

Excuse the mess, I didn't see you from behind
I caught a glimpse, but the reflection's only mine
It's almost like I'm paralyzed and locked outside myself
What I don't need is to concede because I won't be someone else
I am not perfect and I don't claim to be
And if that's what you wanted
Well then I'm so sorry

How about a better version of, the way that I am
How about a better version that, makes me understand
How about a better version of, the way that I am
The way I look, The way I speak,
How about a better version of me

Excuse the wall, I put it up from time to time
A silver shade, and the design is all mine
It's just a maze that everyday I seem to be stuck in
It never seems to fade away but I pray for the day it ends

I am not perfect and I don't claim to be
And if that's what you wanted
Well then I'm so sorry

How about a better version of, the way that I am
How about a better version that, makes me understand
How about a better version of, the way that I am
The way I look, The way I speak,
How about a better version of me

Show me my vital signs until I'm realigned

[CHORUS]

Weekly Shinedown - Song Fifty Three - No More Love!

Hey There!

So this is officially my first blog post of 2016, so this means that I have blogged throughout the whole of 2015! I would like to personally thank each and every one of you who have taken the time to read some of my posts over the past year to my Shinedown journey!

The next song that I discovered by Shinedown was No More Love, which is another song from their first album Leave A Whisper. Around April 2015, I had really been into Shinedown for a whole year, so it was definitely time for me to get familiar with just about every one of their songs, which included their first ever songs released.

Listening to No More Love now always reminds me of my IT sessions where I had so much coursework to do, so obviously the song brings back many bittersweet memories. I have to say that the bittersweetness really correlates well with the meaning of the song, of a relationship that had clearly come to an end, but the main character obviously had a difficult decision as to whether or not they should drop this other person.

My favourite line of the whole line has got to be "there is no bad blood, but I can't stay" because I just feel that obviously this person is completely torn over what to do, but ultimately, they know that they must leave!

I was unable to find any chords for No More Love on the website that I usually use called Ultimate Guitar, which is obviously a real shame. However, I hope that you have enjoyed reading this week's post, and here's to another year of Weekly Shinedown posts!

I'll see you all next Thursday!

P.S. I'll leave the lyrics to No More Love below incase you're interested!

It's cold outside I'm sensing fear
My self control has disappeared
I'm spinning out at each end
Could you be kind and let me in
Despite the writing on the wall
My future's bleak and rather small
That's all you could ever take from me
I've got nothing to lose so let me be

Well I sized you up your not that strong
You're weak inside I knew all along
This made up army you fight in your head
Destroyed your worth and pronounced you dead

Despite the writing on the wall
My future's bleak and rather small
That's all you could ever take from me
I've got nothing to lose so let me be

There's no more love
There's no more love
There' no more love for me and you (Listen to me)
No more love
There's no more love
There' no more love for me and you (Listen to me)

The cruelest joke that has played on me
Is all planned out so I can't leave
Now quietly I will walk away
There is no bad blood but I can't stay
There is no more love because there is no more love

Despite the writing on the wall
My future's bleak and rather small
That's all you could ever take from me
I've got nothing to lose so let me be

Despite the writing on the wall
My future's bleak and rather small
That's all you could ever take from me
I've got nothing to lose so let me be

There's no more love
There's no more love
There' no more love for me and you (Listen to me)
No more love
There's no more love
There' no more love for me and you (Listen to me)
