Weekly Shinedown – Song Twenty Five – Adrenaline!

Hey There!

So I found Adrenaline once again through Shinedown’s SoundCloud page because it was quite a popular song on their lists. I was still carrying out my IT coursework in school, and the Shinedown songs that I already knew were really getting me through the whole process.

The time was around the beginning of December 2014 by the time that I had ventured further down their lists to see this song.

My first impressions of Adrenaline were very positive because the song is so pumped with energy the whole way through, and I really took a liking to it. I love the fact that this song is first on Shinedown’s album Amaryllis because it is such a great introductory song.

Adrenaline is such a good tune for in the car when you are driving around the motorway because the tempo is very fast, so it completely matches the situation. So when I am on road trips with my Uncle Peter, Adrenaline is a very good one to listen to!

The meaning I can interpret from this song is that it is about when your energy is fading away, and you need that extra bit of motivation to keep you going. This could be through taking part in a sport, or even just going through a tough time in life.

I can’t find the guitar chords to this song anywhere, and I don’t think I’ve even found an acoustic version of this song, so if anyone does know a place where I can find either of these things, be sure to ley me know!

I’ll see you all next Thursday!

P.S. I’ll leave the lyrics to Adrenaline below in case you’re interested!

Give me the wheel, so we can move a little faster
I make it real, I'm not a glorious disaster
What part of living says you gotta die?
I plan on burning through another nine lives
One more for measure, that's ten for the soul
That never sleeps, so are you ready to go?

Bloodshot against the clear blue sky!
Tick tock, I think the well is running dry!
My my!
I can't lie!
I need a shot again, that sweet adrenaline
Dead scared 'cause I'm fearless in the head!
Bang! Bang! 'Cause the needle's in the red!
My my!
I can't lie!
I need a shot again, that sweet adrenaline
My my!
My sweet adrenaline!

Crack in the vision, who said the motivation's all wrong?
Not your decision, the detonation of a time bomb
Which way is up, when your high is low?
It's time to find it are you ready to go?

Bloodshot against the clear blue sky!
Tick tock, I think the well is running dry!
My my!
I can't lie!
I need a shot again, that sweet adrenaline
Dead scared 'cause I'm fearless in the head!
Bang! Bang! 'Cause the needle's in the red!
My my!
I can't lie!
I need a shot again, that sweet adrenaline!
My my!
My sweet adrenaline!

My my, I just can't lie,
It's the speed and the sound that I'm dying to try
My my, I just can't lie,
It's the love of the chase that created the ride!

Bloodshot against the clear blue sky!
Tick tock, I think the well is running dry!
My my! (My my!)
I can't lie! (Can't lie!)
I need a shot again, that sweet adrenaline
Dead scared 'cause I'm fearless in the head!
Bang! Bang! 'Cause the needle's in the red!
My my! (My my!)
I can't lie! (Can't lie!)
I need a shot again, that sweet adrenaline
My my! (My my!)
I can't lie! (Can't lie!)
I need a shot again, that sweet adrenaline
My my! (My my!)
My sweet adrenaline!

Weekly Shinedown - Song Twenty Four - Bully!

Hey There!

So this next Shinedown song that I found out about was also through the website SoundCloud whilst I was completing my IT coursework every single night in November 2014. It was towards the top of the list of Shinedown songs that I was presented with.

I really think that this song was the key to unlocking more and more Shinedown songs through SoundCloud, because once I had listened to this one, I decided to listen to every single song on Shinedown's list rather than only listening to all of the songs that I already knew. I also think that this song unlocked Shinedown's 2012 album called Amaryllis to me, and it meant that I wasn't afraid to listen to all of the songs on the album soon.

Bully has such a great meaning behind it because it is basically about a person who is going through a rough time because of someone else, so they are sending a message to them that being a bully will get them nowhere in life. It also shows that no one will ever want to bond with them, so eventually, they won't be remembered by anyone, and will just fade away all alone!

The chords for this song seem so awkward to play, so I think that I would pass on playing this song on the guitar. But I have recently listened to some acoustic versions of Bully, and they seem so lovely to sing with a great backing track.

Don't forget to visit every Thursday in the future to see more posts from me, and you can even read some previous posts if you like!

I'll see you all next Thursday!

P.S. I'll leave the lyrics to Bully below incase you're interested!

Hey!
Hey!
Hey!

It’s 8 A.M.
This hell I’m in
Seems I’ve crossed the line again
For being nothing more than who I am

So break my bones
And throw your stones
We all know that life ain’t fair
But there is more of us
We’re everywhere

We don’t have to take this
Back against the wall
We don’t have to take this
We can end it all

All you’ll ever be
Is a faded memory of a bully
Make another joke
While they hang another rope
So lonely
Push him to the dirt
‘Til the words don’t hurt
Can you hear me?
No ones gonna cry
On the very day you die
You’re a bully

Hey!
Hey!

Think it through
You can’t undo
Whenever I see black and blue
I feel the past
I share the bruise

With everyone
Who’s come and gone
My head is clear
My voice is strong
Now I’m right here to right the wrong

We don’t have to take this
Back against the wall
We don’t have to take this
We can end it all

All you’ll ever be
Is a faded memory of a bully
Make another joke
While they hang another rope
So lonely
Push him to the dirt
‘Til the words don’t hurt
Can you hear me?
No ones gonna cry
On the very day you die
You’re a bully

It’s 8 A.M.!
The Hell I’m in!
Your voice is strong!
Now right the wrong!

All you’ll ever be
Is a faded memory of a bully.
Make another joke
While they hang another rope
So lonely.
Push him to the dirt
‘Til the words don’t hurt
Can you hear me?
No ones gonna cry
On the very day you die
You’re a bully

All you’ll ever be
Is a faded memory of a bully.
Make another joke
While they hang another rope
So lonely.
Push him to the dirt
‘Til the words don’t hurt
Can you hear me?
No ones gonna cry
On the very day you die
You’re a bully

Weekly Shinedown - Song Twenty Three - Diamond Eyes [Boom-Lay Boom-Lay Boom]!

Hey There!

Last week, I spoke about how I discovered Sound Of Madness from listening to Shinedown on SoundCloud in my IT lessons. So after listening to Sound Of Madness, the next song that I played was Diamond Eyes. I had vaguely heard this song previously in my Uncle Peter's car, but I barely knew the song until November 2014.

I listened to this song many times because I liked it so much. The whole of the song is just amazing, and I love the fact that Shinedown chose to produce this song. This is one of my Uncle Peter's favourite Shinedown songs because he often requests it when we are at youth club. I also remember back in December 2014, we were at someone's house one Sunday night, watching music videos on my friend Anya's computer. My Uncle Peter wanted us to watch the Diamond Eyes music video, and he told us that the song was from the movie called The Expendables. I really liked the music video, and the fact that the song reflects the film is amazing.

Now, when I listen to the song, it always reminds me of my IT coursework, because back when I first heard it, I had to do loads of research on paint balling, which just fits in with the song very well. This song has a meaning to me that it is about a soldier, who recently started in the war, and he has had to say goodbye to all of his fears and worries to live differently, maybe even fearless!

Diamond Eyes is one of the longest Shinedown songs that I know, but that doesn't bother me. I only wish that I could earn to play parts of this song on either the guitar or piano in the future.

Thank you for reading, and stay tuned for more posts from me.

I'll see you all next Thursday!

P.S. I'll leave the lyrics to Diamond Eyes [Boom-Lay Boom-Lay Boom] below incase you're interested!

I am the shadow, and the smoke in your eyes,
I am the ghost, that hides in the night

Boom-Lay Boom-Lay BOOM!
Boom-Lay Boom-Lay BOOM!
Boom-Lay Boom-Lay BOOM!
Boom-Lay Boom-Lay BOOM!

Wait, wait a minute take a step back
you gotta think twice before you react
so stay, stay a little while
Because a Promise not kept is the road to exile
HEY! What's the circumstance
you'll never be great without taking a chance so
wait, you waited too long
had your hands in your pocket
when you shoulda been gone

Boom-Lay Boom-Lay BOOM!
One push is all you'll need
Boom-Lay Boom-Lay BOOM!
A fist first philosophy
Boom-Lay Boom-Lay BOOM!
We watch with wounded eyes
Boom-Lay Boom-Lay BOOM!
So I hope you recognize

I'm on the front line
Don't worry I'll be fine
the story is just beginning
I say goodbye to my weakness
so long to the regret
and now I see the world through diamond eyes

DAMN! damn it all down
took one to the chest without even a sound so
What! What are you worth?
the things you love or the people you hurt
HEY! it's like deja vu
a suicidal maniac with nothing to lose
so wait, it's the exception to the rule
everyone of us is EXPENDABLE

Boom-Lay Boom-Lay BOOM!
One push is all you'll need
Boom-Lay Boom-Lay BOOM!
A fist first philosophy
Boom-Lay Boom-Lay BOOM!
We watch with wounded eyes
Boom-Lay Boom-Lay BOOM!
So I hope you recognize

I'm on the front line
don't worry I'll be fine
the story is just beginning
I say goodbye to my weakness
so long to the regret
and now I know that I'm alive

I'm on the front line
don't worry I'll be fine
the story is just beginning
I say goodbye to my weakness
so long to the regret
and now I see the world through diamond eyes

Every night of my life
I watch angels fall from the sky
Every time that the sun still sets
I pray they don't take mine

I'm on the front line
don't worry I'll be fine
the story is just beginning
I say goodbye to my weakness
so long to regret

I'm on the front line
don't worry I'll be fine
the story is just beginning
I say goodbye to my weakness
so long to the regrets
and now I know that I'm alive

I'm on the front line
don't worry I'll be fine
the story is just beginning
I say goodbye to my weakness
so long to the regret
and now I see the world through diamond eyes

I'm on the front line
don't worry I'll be fine
the story is just beginning
I say goodbye to my weakness
so long to the regret
and now I see the world through diamond eyes
Boom-Lay Boom-Lay BOOM!
Boom-Lay Boom-Lay BOOM!
Boom-Lay Boom-Lay BOOM!
Boom-Lay Boom-Lay BOOM!
Boom-Lay Boom-Lay BOOM!
Boom-Lay Boom-Lay BOOM!
Boom-Lay Boom-Lay BOOM!
Boom-Lay Boom-Lay BOOM!

Weekly Shinedown - Song Twenty Two - Sound Of Madness!

Hey There!

This next Shinedown is one that I first heard at the end of November 2014 from the website SoundCloud.

Back last year, when I used to do and IT GCSE, I had loads of coursework that I had to complete. Most of this had to be done after school in a computer room. It was only me that would stay behind every night, and it got incredibly boring. Especially since I couldn't use YouTube in school to keep myself entertained due to the fact that it used way too much internet.

Instead, I discovered the website called SoundCloud on the internet. I thought that it would be a great idea to listen to Shinedown songs on here, so I just keyed in "Shinedown" and listened to the top songs. The first ones that came up were Second Chance and Unity, but a little bit further down, Sound Of Madness was the next song.

Very quickly, this song won me over, and it made me want to finally listen to Shinedown's complete album called The Sound Of Madness! This discovery certainly led to me finding many other Shinedown songs because the long hours in IT certainly got very boring, so Shinedown would always entertain me.

This song has recently had a massive impact on me because recently, in our youth club at church, my friend Chez has been playing many Shinedown songs on the loud speakers, and Sound Of Madness had been one of the most played songs. It is also one of my friend Leah's favourite Shinedown songs, and she always requests this song because she knows all of the lyrics to it.

Fairly recently, on Sunday 31st May 2015, my Uncle Peter drove me and my friends Leah, Louise, Georgia and Anya to a Starbucks that was at the motorway services, and we all had some hot chocolates there. It was like a mini road trip for us, and most of my friends suggested that we should listen to some Shinedown songs. So the first album that my Uncle Peter played was Shinedown's live album called Somewhere In The Stratosphere. Leah really wanted Sound Of Madness on, so in the back of the car, we were all jamming to this song, and many more on the way there, and on the way back.

The meaning of the song that I interpret is that it is about a person who has faced many problems in life, but they just have to get on with it, and continue to live their life. I've never head an acoustic version to this song, but if I did, it would probably inspire me to learn this song on guitar, just like all of Shinedown's acoustic versions of their songs do to me.

Feel free to talk about some of your favourite Shinedown songs below, and stay tuned for other posts from me!

I'll see you all next Thursday!

P.S. I'll leave the lyrics to Sound Of Madness below incase you're interested!

Yeah, I get it,
You're an outcast.
Always under attack.
Always coming in last,
Bringing up the past.
No one owes you anything.
I think you need a shotgun blast,
A kick in the ass,
So paranoid...
Watch your back!!

Oh my, here we go...
Another loose cannon gone bi-polar
Slipped down, couldn't get much lower
Quicksand's got no sense of humour.
I'm still laughing like hell.
You think that by crying to me
Looking so sorry that I'm gonna believe,
You've been infected by a social disease.
Well, then take your medicine.

I created the Sound of Madness.
Wrote the book on pain.
Somehow I'm still here,
To explain,
That the darkest hour never comes in the night.
You can sleep with a gun.
When you gonna wake up and fight... for yourself?

I'm so sick of this tombstone mentality,
If there's an afterlife,
Then it'll set you free.
But I'm not gonna part the seas
You're a self-fulfilling prophecy.
You think that crying to me,
Looking so sorry that I'm gonna believe,
You've been infected by a social disease.
Well, then take your medicine.

I created the Sound of Madness.
Wrote the book on pain.
Somehow I'm still here,
To explain,
That the darkest hour never comes in the night.
You can sleep with a gun.
When you gonna wake up...
When you gonna wake up and fight...

I created the Sound of Madness.
Wrote the book on pain.
Somehow I'm still here,
To explain,
That the darkest hour never comes in the night.
You can sleep with a gun.
When you gonna wake up and fight... for yourself?

When you gonna wake up and fight... for yourself?
When you gonna wake up and fight... for yourself?
When you gonna wake up and fight... for yourself?
